Camilla Breindahl – Pan Pacific Travel, 2017
Dusky Lodge is a very cozy hostel, with everything you need plus pool and spa. On top of that, the view is amazing and so is the staff.
Nick Moyle – HOD Tourism, Cashmere High School, 2017
The Students all had a great time staying at Dusky Lodge and enjoyed interacting with the other guests. We have recommended other schools book in and stay at Dusky Lodge.
Willow – Tour manager for Haka Tours, 2017
Wonderful staff, always friendly and accommodating for Haka Tour groups! Thanks to Claire and the team for always being patient with our constant presence during a usually busy summer period. The rooms are always clean and super comfy now with the soft refurbishments, I’ve seen great improvements over the past two years – keep up the good work. Dusky is a great place to stay in Kaikoura!
Josh Borella – Frontiers Abroad Instructor, 2019
Frontiers Abroad has been coming to the Dusky lodge for several years now and typically we come twice a year with 40-50 geology and environmental science students from the United States. Claire and the rest of the Dusky Lodge crew are incredible and always doing what they can to accommodate our students and instructors. The facilities are first-rate, and with the pool and spa up and running now, the students are loving it! Last time we were at the Dusky, Claire spoke with our students about her experience of the devastating 2016 November earthquake. They were blown away by how central the Dusky Lodge was to keeping locals together and surviving through the earthquake and aftershocks. The students always comment on how much they enjoy their experience at the Dusky Lodge. Its location from town is perfect = just far enough away for a bit of peace, but within easy walking distance to food and beverage. The kitchens and pool/spa provide great meeting spots for story sharing and also engaging with other travelers. I highly recommend the Dusky Lodge to any small or large group wanting to get an authentic taste of Kaikoura!
